Welcome Spring A Free Cross Stitch Pattern

Welcome Spring is a Free Cross Stitch Patten you can instantly download as a thank you. I have so enjoyed the process of designing downloadable files whether they be svg or png cut and graphic files, or as you may know me for as designing cross stitch patterns.

Welcome Spring is a free cross stitch pattern that I stitched on 14 count Aida using one a blue from Classic Colorworks. All details are included in the free download which you will find at the end of this article.

I went to a Joann Fabric Store a few weeks ago (a rare treat because I do not live near one) and I purchased two wood pieces that needed to be painted. At the time I wasn’t sure how I would paint it, but I knew it was a perfect pieced to display finished cross stitch. When I sat down paint it I had already designed and stitched Welcome Spring so I painted this to match my free cross stitch pattern.

I used Acrylic Paint in Natural Buff and Prairie Sage by Folk Art, and also painted the dragonfly Colonial Blue by Americana however the dragonfly broke off so I decided to remove it permanently from the piece. Which in the end was an enhancement to the finished piece.

You can see me paint and fully finish Welcome Spring in my Finishing Video on my Youtube Channel Brianna Lentz. I share a lot of finishing videos as well as many other crafts and hobbies.

Welcome Spring was finished using batting, foam board and sticky board. I didn’t have enough sticky board to finish the backing piece and stitched piece so I used foam board with my stitching which really draws your eye and I am very happy with how this turned out. I always use Fabri Tac glue and I had an easier time with this finish than I did with Hello Spring. You can read about my finishing for that pattern here.

Welcome Spring is a simple free cross stitch pattern but it is something that you can really dress up. I love typography and pairing things someone else might typically question wether it matches or not. I love the vintage floral quilting cotton paired with the modern and simplistic design of the wood frame then paired with the very cute and modern typography that is Welcome Spring. I really encourage you to think outside of the box with your finishing, let yourself go crazy with your own designs. I love a good classic romantic look, but I had a ton of fun letting myself go outside of my comfort zone with this finish!

Does it feel like Spring where you are yet? We have had a lot of cold weather, some rain, but just enough sunlight to take these photos! Today we are going to have some cooler weather again, but I know Spring is just around the corner! I always decorate for Spring right after Valentine’s Day.
