I’m Selling My Yarn on eBay to Buy Myself A Chop Saw

If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen yesterday that I listed a TON of nice yarn on eBay for really great prices.  The subtotal of all the yarn I listed was about $300 worth.  Why would I do that?  Well because I want a chop saw.  I am not going to go into why yet, but over the next few months I am sure you guys are going to figure out what cat I have in the bag right now, but I’m not about to let the cat out of the bag yet!

Well, why not?  You ask… because I need the chop saw first, silly!  Look. I talk a lot about the cost of crafts and how to make your house a home on a dime.  Well I went through a year where I kind of kept up with the knitting community joneses and felt like I had to buy the designer yarn to keep up.  And look, I love supporting indie dyers and playing with nice yarn, but at the end of the day this yarn has set unused for not one but two years…that is money just sitting there and I cannot deal.

So how does this connect to wanting a chop saw?  Well, over the last year I keep asking Jason what we need to make this and what do we need to make that and how can I make this and how can I make that….and 9/10 he replies with “if we had a chop saw we could do that easy.” So.  I have decided there are enough projects I realllllllly want to make that require me buying a chop saw.  I am looking to buy the one pictured from Lowes.  It is a Kobalt Compact Sliding 7 1/4″ 10 Amp Single Bevel Sliding Laser Compound Miter Saw.  I also I have my eye on a saw stand and maybe even a drill press.  But lets start with the chop saw first.

This means I need to make this purchase come from somewhere in a monetary sense, hence the yarn.  By the way, this is not the first time I have done this.  When I first got back into cross stitching last year, I sold about $100 worth of my personal yarn on eBay and used that to get started in another hobby.  I like to recycle…this is just recycling my money.  Not washing my money…that is something else entirely and I know nothing about it but if you are interested I highly recommend watching The Ozarks on Netflix because that is what the entire show is about and it is amazing.

Currently, I have items listed for sale on eBay and you can find me by clicking here.  Go check it out, or please spread the word! I really do appreciate it <3. Do you recycle your hobbies to pay for new ideas?  I think it is so much fun!
