
This Crochet Sunflower Granny Square Pattern will create a 7.5″ to 8″ square depending on your gauge.
Materials Needed:
- Worsted Weight Yarn in colors of your choice
- Brava Worsted Weight Yarn in Colors: Sienna (A), Caution (B), Almond (C) and Cream (D)
- Color Key found at bottom of this pattern
- Brava Worsted Weight Yarn in Colors: Sienna (A), Caution (B), Almond (C) and Cream (D)
- I/5.5mm Hook
Stitches Needed:
- Chain (CH)
- Slip Stitch (SL ST)
- Half Double Crochet (HDC)
- Double Crochet (DC)
- Treble Crochet (TRC)
- Puff Stitch [Yarn Over, insert hook in stitch and pull up a long hoop (height of DC).] Do this 3 times. YO and pull through all 7 remaining loops on hook. CH 1 to complete stitch.
- Cluster Stitch [Yarn Over, insert hook in stitch and pull up one loop, YO and pull through 2 loops. Do this 4 times. YO and pull through all 5 remaining loops on hook.
Instructions:
To Start: Use color A and begin with magic ring (my preferred method) or Chain 5, join with Slip Stitch to form ring.
ROUND 1: CH 3, counts as 1st DC, work 15 DC in center of ring. Complete round with Slip Stitch to the top of the beginning CH 3. Fasten Off (16 DC).
ROUND 2: Use Color B and attach with a Slip Stitch to any DC. CH 1, Puff Stitch in the same stitch as CH 1 and in each DC around. Join with Slip Stitch to the 1st Puff Stitch in this round. Fasten Off (16 Puff Stitches).
ROUND 3: Slip Stitch over into the Chain 1 space right before your joined Puff Stitch. CH 2, [Cluster Stitch, then CH 2] in the same space as CH 2. Repeat [ ] in each Chain 1 space around. Join with a Slip Stitch to the beginning Cluster Stitch. Fasten Off (16 Cluster Stitches).
ROUND 4: Use color C and attach with a Slip Stitch in any Chain 2 space. CH 4 to count as the first Treble Crochet, 2 TRC in the same space as Chain 4. [*3 DC in next chain 2 space, 3 HDC in next Chain 2 space, 3 DC in the next Chain 2 space *, (3 TRC, CH 3. 3 TRC] all in the next Chain 2 space for the corner.] Repeat from * to * once. 3 TRC in the same space as the begging TRC, CH 3. Join with Slip Stitch to the top of the beginning CH 4. Fasten Off.
ROUND 5: Use color D and attach with a Slip Stitch to any Chain 3 space of any corner. CH 3 to count as first DC, work 2 more DC in same space as CH 3. Work 3 DC in between each 3 DC group of the previous round. Work [ 3 DC, CH 3, 3 DC ] in the Chain 3 space of each corner. End with a DC in the same space as the beginning DC, CH 3. Join with a Slip Stitch to the top of the beginning CH 3. Fasten Off.
ROUND 6 AND 7: Repeat Round 5.
