CROCHET SUNFLOWER GRANNY SQUARE

Today I would like to share with you what my granny squares will look like for the Sunflower Blanket. I am using Brava Worsted Yarn and a size I/5.5mm Crochet Hook.

I am using my pattern which you can find here.  There are 7 rounds in each square.  My blocks measure out to be 8″ across.  I decided on this size because you know I love to work smarter and not harder.  So with this method, I should be able to make a throw size blanket only making 42 squares. 6 squares across and 7 rows long. I am going to make a border around the blanket and that will add at least another 2 inches.  So with that math my blanket should reach minimum dimensions of 50″ Wide by 58″ Long.  I am going to attach each square with the join-as-you-go method. So far I have completed 12 squares.  Every time I complete a row I MUST weave in my ends.  This is to ensure that I don’t grow impatient when I have to weave in the ends and they all get tucked away really nicely with a minimum risk of them coming out after washing.
