I have always always loved Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice. My daughter and I watch it every single October at least once and bake Halloween cookies and then again on the day of Halloween. Which also happens to be one of my favorite days of the year. And then I watch it probably 5 more times throughout the year…I told you … I love Beetlejuice. Like. A lot.
I am having so much fun taking old granny squares and making them fun and modern with simple color changes for themes. This Blanket is using all Red Heart Yarn. I looked at Knit Picks and made a color chart, I looked at Hobby Lobby’s I love This Yarn and made a color chart, and ultimately I decided to use Red Heart’s Super Saver yarn because it was easy to go to Wal Mart and buy the yarn and take it home and start working out my idea immediately. And I could not be happier with the results.
The colors in this blanket are Red Heart’s Super Saver Yarn in the colors:
- Black
- White
- Amethyst
- Spring Green
Now for the blanket pattern, I used the same pattern as my Sunflower Granny Square with less rounds, and created my own Beetlejuice inspired Granny Square which of course is commonly known as the Sunburst Square. Click here to take you to my post and the free pattern.
For the blanket: I follow the Granny square pattern up to round 4. I make a total of 25 granny squares using colors Amethyst, Spring Green and White. Look at the color key down below. And then I join-as-you-go in Black using the video tutorial: How to Crochet the Continuous Join As You Go Method .
That is it. It is that simple and that effective. This is seriously an insanely FAST project. The dimensions in this blanket are for a crib or child size blanket. Im thinking about ripping out my join-as-you-go and modifying it to a full size blanket. Let me know if you would like to see me do that in the comments down below.
I hope this blanket inspires you and gets you in the mood for Halloween. By the looks of it on Instagram most of us are already ready for October 31st! Happy I’m not the only one!
This is awesome! Thank you for sharing!
I am so glad you like it!
