I love this Spring Bunny Crochet Blanket. It is so simple and yet so effective which I do believe is quickly becoming my catch phrase on this website! This blanket is easy enough for a beginner and stimulating enough for an experienced blanket maker. Materials and Directions are below 🙂
Materials Needed:
- Worsted Weight Yarn – I used Caron One Pound Yarn in colors Off White and Taupe. Off White was used for the squares, the bunny tail and for sewing the blanket together. The taupe was only used for the body of the bunny applique.
- Size I /5.5mm Crochet Hook
Directions:
- Make 16 Blank Canvas Granny Squares using the Off White yarn. My pattern for this Granny Square can be found HERE!
- Make 8 Bunny Appliques
- The body of the bunny was made using the Crochet Easter Bunny Garland pattern by Sewhistorically.com.
- The tail for the bunny was made making a bobble stitch with this pattern for the bobble stitch:
- First you will chain two. In the first chain you will hook the first half of four double crochets. You will now have 5 loops on your hook. Next, yarn over and pull through all five loops and then yarn over again and pull through to finish. Cut your yarn leaving a tail and then pulling tight. Pull the yarn tails of the tail in where you think the tail should go and tie together tightly, weaving in the ends.
- Glue your bunny appliqués to 8 of your squares. You can sew your appliqué on instead. This is a personal preference. I hot glued mine and it worked well for me.
- Decide how you want your blanket to look and start sewing your squares together.
- I sewed my squares together by going through both back loops of the squares and using the Single Crochet stitch to sew them together. This was fast and easy and gave a very clean and neat finish to my blanket. I especially love the detail where the corners attach. It just enhanced what the Blank Canvas Granny Square was already creating with the eyelets.
You are all finished! You can make this as big as you like! Just make more squares and appliqués
